about
Youngbloods presents a new series by Reginald Chapman's PRESSURE FIT project featuring a series of jazz covers recorded with the trombonists friends & collaborators over the internet while quarantined.
"2020 has not been kind to the live entertainment industry, one of the communities that has had to go 100% digital with the advent of Covid-19. For many, live shows was more than just entertainment, it was lifeline, a way for musicians to work out things of the heart in a common place with other artists. This has been replaced with distanced collaborations. Somehow one can sense the need want and comfort of belonging between the musicians in the Brady Bunch style video panels that are now so prevalent. This project is a documentation of a place holder lifeline until we can once again spend time in the same room, bathing in the healing presence of creative togetherness. Oh what a day that will be. "

Like so many others, this came like a bolt out of the blue and, even though it's well before payday, I had to have this astonishing album on vinyl to prove it exists. The feel of the tunes makes me feel like the Impressions do, Curtis Mayfield, the big spaces and instinctive horns and stuff drifting in and out. Great grooves and I can see lots of ghosts nodding along to this with big smiles on their faces. At last! Anthony Cottrell
