Wake and Tape is a fast-paced, cohesive electronic EP that can be played in its entirety in under 22 minutes. Inspired by 90's cassette tapes listening sessions, NYC-based brass instrumentalists Reginald Chapman [Pressure Fit] and Darius Christian turned their deep pandemic video hangouts into immersive remote writing and producing sessions. The duo composed, mixed, and played every instrument on the album. Wake and Tape leads heavy with high energy brass meets house-inspired electronic and acoustic percussion. The album’s peak moment is a vocal soliloquy, “Wide Eyes,” that includes Latin-inspired grooves meets lo-fi hip hop textures and Darius’s poetic vocals to his beloved.
